Marquette PA Alum Receives Illinois PA of the Year Award

Carleen Freesmeier, PA 2005, was selected as the first recipient of the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistant of the year award. Carleen was recognized for her efforts to advance the PA profession in Illinois, and her leadership and commitment to patient care. Carleen works in a high volume emergency room in Rockford, Illinois. She is the first PA to serve on the Board of Directors for Infinity Health Care and is the Lead Advanced Practice Provider at Swedish American’s Emergency Department. In addition to recruiting and training new providers, she works with the hospital administration to develop quality initiatives and innovations for the emergency medicine team. Her dedication to the profession is clear.

Upon accepting her award, Carleen stated: “We need to continue to educate patients and health systems regarding PAs so that they can practice to the full scope of their training and experience, and stay on top of our legislature so that they recognize the value that PAs provide.” She continued, “I genuinely love being a part of the dynamic health care team. As a PA, I am fortunate to work in a position that has consistently been ranked among the top and most growing fields in the country.”

Congratulations Carleen and thank you for your dedication to the profession.
