Prof. Rich Friman is the Eliot Fitch Professor for International Studies, Professor of Political Science, Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Major in International Affairs, and Director of the Center for Transnational Justice at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. His current research focuses on the intersection of the licit and illicit global economies, politics of (im)migration and crime, trafficking in persons, and drug control policy in advanced industrial countries. His recent books include Crime and the Global Political Economy (Lynne Rienner 2009), Human Trafficking, Human Security and the Balkans (coedited, Pittsburgh 2007), Challenges and Paths to Global Justice (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), The Illicit Global Economy and State Power (coedited, Rowman & Littlefield 1999) and NarcoDiplomacy: Exporting the U.S. War on Drugs (Cornell 1996). He is the author of two additional books, numerous book chapters, and articles in journals including International Organization, Review of International Political Economy, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal of Public Policy, Crime, Law, and Social Change, The American Journal of Economics and Sociology, The Pacific Review, and Asian Survey. Friman is also the 1998 recipient of the Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J. Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence.
