The holder of the Wade Chair will ordinarily be a member of the Society of Jesus.  The person selected usually will be eligible for appointment to the Marquette University faculty at senior rank. The person selected usually will have demonstrated excellence in both teaching and scholarship in order to serve as a role model and mentor to junior faculty in the designated department of the college of school.
