The Jesuit holder of the Chair must be willing to become a member of Marquette Jesuit Associates and will thus be subject to the contractual arrangements between that corporation and Marquette University.  Appointments to the Wade Chair will normally be a semester up to two years.

The Chairholder will ordinarily be expected to teach one or two course sections per year, to conduct research in his field of study, and to participate as appropriate in the activities of his department and college.  The Chairholder will deliver public lectures from time to time and will engage in the publication of this research.  This would mean two public lectures sometime during the academic year to be arranged by the Chairholder and the department. The Chairholder will summarize experience in a year-end report.

Funds will be made available to the Chairholder for a graduate student and to cover moving, research, and office expenses.  The Chairholder will be assigned a home department with office space and a computer.
