Most psychologists recognize that emotions are necessary for survival. Our lab is interested in understanding how emotional states impact the way people understand and interact with their worlds. Specifically, we are investigating the ways emotions help guide behavior and interpret information.
We are currently working on developing robust emotion induction paradigms that will allow us to manipulate mood. Those paradigms will be used in behavioral testing of processes such as executive function, decision making, and behavior selection. We will also investigate using functional imaging the way brain regions involved in emotion interact with neural systems for these types of processes.
