1. Hunger Clean-Up in the Avenues West Neighborhood

On Saturday, April 26, a Marquette Hunger Clean-Up group worked in the Avenues West neighborhood. Participants included Marquette students, members of the Milwaukee Police Department, Alderman Bob Bauman, the South of Highland (SOHI) Business Manager and the Executive Director of the Avenues West Association, Keith Stanley. The group worked together on cleaning up the business lots located on 27th Street and Wells Street.

The Avenues West Association shared photos of the day. The group's work benefited the area by improving the businesses' curb appeal and keeping the neighborhood clean.

2. Highlighting our Partnerships

The Office of Public Affairs, on behalf of the university, has the opportunity to work with local organizations which promote and support various groups from the Milwaukee community.

The Avenues West Association is hosting the Annual Luncheon and Silent Auction on Thursday, May 15 at Marquette University. The luncheon will feature John Norquist, the former mayor of Milwaukee and current President and CEO of Congress of the New Urbanism, as the luncheon speaker. In addition, the Avenues West Association will honor the Forest County Potawatomi Community and former alderman and Common Council President Willie L. Hines, Jr.
