Roles and Responsibilities

Marquette University is a "hybrid entity" with seven health care components. Each Health Care Provider Unit is responsible for compliance with the regulation and with maintaining appropriate records, including disclosures. The HIPAA contacts listed below are responsible for local oversight of PHI.

Marquette University's Policy Oversight and the Institutional Review Board

In lieu of establishing a Privacy Board, Marquette University has empowered its IRB to grant approval or waiver of patient authorization.

The Office of Research Compliance

The ORC is charged with maintaining documentation related to IRB activity and is therefore also charged with maintaining documentation and records described in this addendum. The Office of Research Compliance provides institutional oversight of the policies set forth in this document.
