Director of Animal Care Facility

Specific Responsibilities of the Director are to:

• Maintain appropriate levels of properly trained animal technicians in order to provide acceptable care.
  
  
• Review and approve Monthly Inventory Reports based upon daily inventory of animals in the facility as prepared by the Animal Care Supervisor.
  
  
• Authorize obtaining veterinary services when deemed necessary by the Animal Care Supervisor.
  
  
• Review annually the fee structure and recommend changes to the IACUC , if appropriate.
  
  
• Inspect periodically the facility to ensure that animal care personnel are operating in accordance with guidelines.
  
  
• Supervise the Animal Care Supervisor who is responsible for the daily conduct of the Institutional Facility.
  
  
• Supervise the IACUC secretary who is responsible for all records, minutes of the IACUC meetings and maintaining the animal care web site.
  
  
• Prepare an Annual Operating Report specifying occupancy, costs,incidents, new procedures and adjustments to new or changed regulations.
