2 Unless precluded by scientific considerations, it is suggested that all animals be sedated or anesthetized before decapitation or cervical dislocation

5 It is recommended that rabbits not be euthanized by CO 2 inhalation because of difficult induction

Always UNACCEPTABLE in awake animals:KC1, MgSo4, strychnine, neuromuscular blocking agents, exsanguination, air embolism, freezing and chloroform (due to its hazards to personnel).
