Any Marquette student or employee is covered by the University's
insurance when they are engaged/involved in activities required in the normal course of
the student curriculum.
The scope of the insurance coverage is related to legal and prudent behavior.
Activities related to clinical experiences include those, which involve curriculum
placement arranged under the direction of the Coordinator of Advisement and Field
Placements. Illegal activities, which would not be covered, would be sexual abuse,
intentional physical abuse, etc.
Marquette students are not, under any circumstances, to drive a child from a placement
site to anywhere else. Students who choose to carpool to and/or from placement sites have
only their personal insurance coverage to respond to any claim.
The premise liability of the site may cover an injury if it was determined that
negligence at the site was involved. In the absence of premise liability, only a student's
personal health insurance would cover any medical costs.
Questions regarding insurance should be directed to Marquette University's Office of
Risk Management.
