Captain Ryan S. Riesen is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Studies, assigned to Air Force ROTC Detachment 930 at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. He is tasked to recruit, educate, train, motivate, select and commission officer candidates through a comprehensive college program. He provides academic instruction on fundamental Air Force doctrine, practical leadership experience, and extensive field training emphasizing physical fitness and officership to prepare future officers for active duty. Specifically, Captain Riesen is lead instructor and subject matter expert on the “Evolution of the Air Force” and “Air Force Leadership Studies” courses.

Captain Riesen is a 2008 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  He enlisted in the Wisconsin Air National Guard in 2003 as a fuels distribution craftsman where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before being accepted into the Academy of Military Science. It is there he earned his commission in 2012.  A Wisconsin native, he serves as an Intelligence Officer assigned to the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee, WI. He has deployed numerous times, most recently as Chief, Wing Intelligence of the 506th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron.  He has served in a variety of intelligence roles ranging from tactical, counter-drug operations to strategic, nuclear support missions.  Captain Riesen also serves as Director, Wisconsin National Guard Association (WINGA) and is extensively involved with the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS).  Both organizations are dedicated to supporting legislative priorities and a national military policy that promotes peace and stability around the globe.
