Sergeant First Class James Breakfield
Training NCO

SFC Breakfield enlisted in the Army on 7 Oct 1993.  He went to Ft. Benning, Ga. for Basic Training and Infantry A.I.T.  He was then sent to Ft. Stewart, Ga., where he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 7th Infantry Regiment (Cotton Balers), 24th Infantry Division (M).  While there he served as a Squad Automatic Rifleman, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Gunner, and Team Leader.  In Jan. 1997 he was then reassigned to Ft. Carson, Co., where he was then assigned to 1st Battalion 12th Infantry Regiment (Warriors), 4th Infantry Division (M).  While there he served as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Section Leader, Team Leader, and the Battalion Schools NCO.  In Feb 1999 he was then reassigned to Ft. Benning, Ga., where he was assigned to 1st Battalion 29th Infantry Regiment, TRADOC. 

 
While there he served as a Basic Bradley Instructor, Sniper Instructor, and a Bradley Section Leader.   In Mar 2001 he was then reassigned to the Republic of Korea, 2nd Infantry Division (M), Camp Casey.  He was assigned to 2nd Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchu). While there he served as a Bradley Section Leader.  In Mar 2002 he was then reassigned to Ft. Campbell, Ky., 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).   He was assigned to the 1st Battalion 502nd Infantry Regiment (First Strike).  While there he served as a Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, and a Scout Team Leader.  As member of the Screaming Eagles he deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in Mar 2003.  In May 2004 he was reassigned to Ft. Benning, Ga.  He was assigned to 4th Ranger Training Brigade, TRADOC as a Ranger Instructor.  In Sep 2006 he was then assigned to the Republic of Korea, 8th Army, Joint Security Area (JSA), where he served as the Battalion Operations NCO.  In Jul 2007 he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchu) at Camp Casey.  There he served as a Platoon Sergeant. In Oct 2009 he was assigned to Marquette University as a Military Science Instructor.  He currently serves as the Battalion Training NCO.
  

SFC Breakfield has graduated from Ranger School, Sniper School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Rappel Master Course, and the Fast Rope Master Course.
  

Awards and Decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, ARCOM W/ 6 Oak Leaf Cluster, AAM W/ 8 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, National Defense Medal W/ Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal W/ Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Development Ribbon W/ 4 Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon W/ 2 Device, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Combat Infantryman Badge, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Ranger Tab.
