Assistant Professor of Military Science and Leadership
Major Jonathan Freyer was born in Milwaukee, WI and enlisted in the United States Army in 1987. Major Freyer served as an enlisted Infantryman for two years with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and served six months with the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) stationed in the Sinai, Egypt. Major Freyer returned to Milwaukee in 1989 and served as a Military Instructor and Drill Sergeant with the 84th Division, United States Army Reserve.
In 1995, Major Freyer graduated from the Wisconsin Military Academy's Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned as an Infantry officer. Major Freyer has served as a rifle platoon leader, anti-tank platoon leader and executive officer with units within the 2nd Battalion 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Brigade, Wisconsin Army National Guard.

In 2002, Major Freyer returned to the United States Army Reserve and served as the HHC company commander with the 7th Brigade, 84th Division. In 2004, Major Freyer graduated from the Civil Affairs Qualification Course (CAQC) and served with the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion in Green Bay, WI as a Civil Affairs officer.
Major Freyer was mobilized and deployed as a Civil Affairs Team Chief in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005-2006. In 2007-2008, Major Freyer was deployed as a Civil Affairs officer in support of Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo.
Major Freyer is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advance Course, the Civil Affairs Qualification Course, the Combined Arms Exercise (CAX) Course and the Air Assault School.
MAJ Freyer was hired by ComTek as an ROTC Senior Military Science Instructor in September 2008 and is currently serving as a Assistant Professor of Military Science and Leadership at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. As an Army Reserve Officer, Major Freyer is currently training to become an Information Operations (IO) Instructor with the 3/329th Regiment (IO) located in Milwaukee, WI.
Major Freyer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Major Freyer's awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), the Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd Award), the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2nd Award), the Army Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, the Multinational Force and Observers Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (2nd Award), and the Non-Article 5 NATO Medal (Kosovo).
Major Freyer also received the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Air Assault Badge and the Drill Sergeant Badge.
Major Freyer is married to the former Miss Jacqueline Lynch of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and has three children.
