Master Sergeant

of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he was an ROTC cadet. After
transferring to the University of Michigan for his Forestry degree,
he graduated in December of 1969 and was commissioned as a 2nd
Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers.
With further schooling at Ft. Belvoir, VA to become a Topographic
Engineer, 2nd Lieutenant Schmitt was sent to serve with a topographic

the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
In 1988 MSG Schmitt came back into the Army Reserve in the 84th

his new found free time to work on his Masters Degree. He
lives with his wife near Blue River, WI and has five grown children.
