Major Rodd Washington
Assistant Professor of Military Science & Leadership

Maj WashingtonMajor(ret) Roddrick Washington, a military dependent, born in Spokane, WA, enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1981.

He was assigned as a gunner in a tank platoon of F Troop 1/167 Cavalry in Fremont, NE. He entered the state Officer Candidate School where he received his commission in 1986. After attending the Cavalry Officer’s Basic Course he was assigned as a tank platoon leader for the 1-195th Armor Battalion. Major Washington’s next assignment was as a scout platoon leader for HHC, 2-134th Infantry (M) Battalion. He continued to serve in HHC, 2-134th IN as the Executive Officer. Major Washington’s next assignment was as a battle Captain on the 67th Infantry (M) Brigade’s S-3 staff where he performed the duties of the liaison officer and the S-3 Air. Major Washington transferred back to the 1/167th Cavalry Squadron where he became the Executive Officer of HHT followed by three commands as Troop Commander of HHT, Bravo and Charlie troops respectively. After his commands he served as a Special Operations Officer for the POMSO (Plans and Operations of Military Support) for six months. Transferring back to the 67th Infantry Brigade (M) he served as the Communications and Electronics Officer for three years. His last assignment was as the S-3 of Det 4, HQ STARC. In January of 2004 he retired from the Nebraska Army National Guard and was hired by COMTek where he has served in the position of APMS at the University of Nebraska –Lincoln Army ROTC, and now serves as the Executive Officer of the Marquette University Army ROTC.

Major Washington majored in Human Resource Management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. His military education includes the Cavalry Officer Basic and Infantry Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Air/Ground Operations Course, Anti-Terrorism Course (NICI), Reserve Component tank Commander’s Course for both the M60 A3 and the M1 IP, and Combat Lifesaver Course.

Major Washington's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

Major Washington is married and has three sons and two daughters.
