Current Activities

Students in the Navy ROTC program at Marquette University participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, ranging from community service, sports, professional development events, and social gatherings. Click on the name of the event you wish to view pictures of.

Fall Ball

Every fall, midshipmen and guests gather to celebrate the birthdays of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Madison Drill Meet and Endurance Team Competition

Each Fall the Drill Team and the Endurance Team travel to Madison, WI to compete against other ROTC units from across the country. Marquette placed first in the endurance team, squad drill, color guard, as well as first place overall.

Awards Day

Every Spring the outstanding midshipmen of the battalion are recognized for their efforts at awards day. The ceremony includes a guest speaker and a pass-in-review.

Memphis Drill Meet

Almost half the battalion attended this year's Memphis Drill Competition. Marquette had a very successful trip, placing 2nd amongst all schools in attendance. Midshipmen made up various types of teams including full platoon, squad and color guard teams and also men's and women's endurance teams.

Drill sessions provide valuable professional development time during which the midshipmen participate in a variety of activities. Activities include award ceremonies, classroom training, and inspections.

Social hour follows all drill sessions to give the midshipmen a chance to enjoy refreshments and socialize with each other and the unit staff.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters 3-on-3 Tournament

Midshipmen volunteered to help out the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter by helping to host their 3-on-3 basketball tournament. This volunteer opportunity offered a chance to meet area youth and also to practice organizational skills.

Each spring, midshipmen compete in the ROTC basketball tournament hosted by Notre Dame. The tournament includes teams made up of ROTC students from all three branches of service and from across the country.

LCS-1 Commissioning

A once in a lifetime opportunity came to Milwaukee this Fall. The commissioning of the USS Freedom, the first in a new class of Littoral Combat ships, happened here on 8 November. Many Marquette midshipmen were able to be a part of the festivities, including being a part of the Color Guard, and even dressing up at the famous Milwaukee Brewers Sausages.

The Color Guard provides many unique opportunities to midshipmen who participate. This fall, the Color Guard was invited to display the Colors during the pregame ceremonies at the Bucks-Spurs game.
