Alcohol EDU for College As part of Marquette’s proactive approach to help ensure that students stay safe and healthy, the university is asking each first-year student to complete AlcoholEdu for College, an online alcohol education and prevention program.
Overview and Instructions: AlcoholEdu uses science-based research and interactive strategies, including personalized feedback, to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, the course can empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help better manage drinking behavior – your own, and/or that which may happen around you. The course has two sections, both of which must be completed between July 30 and October 15, 2007 :
• The first part of the course takes about 3 hours to complete. It is recommended that you take it in multiple sittings. This section ends with an exam and survey. You must earn a grade of 75% or higher to pass the course. The deadline for finishing this section of the course is August 21, 2007.
• About two months after completing the first section of the course, you will receive an email reminding you to complete the second section of the course. This section will take about 15 minutes. You must complete this section to finish AlcoholEdu for College; the deadline for finishing this section of the course is October 15, 2007. All responses are strictly confidential; Marquette University staff members will receive information only about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students' answers. You can feel confident that providing truthful answers -- no matter what they are -- will not put you at any risk of repercussions. To take AlcoholEdu, you will need a computer with Internet access and audio capabilities. If you do not have ready access to a computer, try using a computer at a local library, copy center, or community center.
System Requirements: Use Flash 7.0 or higher, and either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator for best results. For AlcoholEdu's 24/7 Online Technical Support, click the "Help" button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu course screen. Select the "Request Support Tab" for more contact options, or call 1-866-384-9062. You do not need to be logged on to the course to access the Help site. For more detailed technical information, please click here for the "Student Troubleshooting Guide" and scroll to Computer Requirements.
Your involvement in our ongoing alcohol education and prevention initiatives is welcomed! Students are required to complete AlcoholEdu for College before arriving on campus in order to help them make well-informed decisions as they transition to Marquette. We encourage you to take AlcoholEdu as well (available after July 30, 2007) and talk with your students about what they have learned and how they will use this information in the future.

What if my computer freezes or crashes, or I experience other technical difficulties? What if I have trouble logging in to the course, or I get error messages?
