TESTIMONIALS

Maura McGlynn

Fall 2007 South Africa Service Learning participant

My project at EMDC involves developing a website on behavior management and positive alternatives to corporal punishment in schools which teachers and administrators would access for support.  It involves interviewing parents, teachers, administrators, students, and psychologists as well as doing research on successful behavior management techniques.

I am currently researching and interviewing psychologists and social workers about behavior management techniques used in the classroom.  I am also researching theories that could be successfully implemented.  I travel to schools in the district and contact national and international experts on behavior management.

I am thoroughly enjoying the work I am doing at EMDC, as I am learning to develop creative ideas from information I collect.  I am realizing how interconnected all social issues are and how to balance personal experience with research to be an innovative and thoughtful problem solver.
