By car: Head northwest on N 10th St toward W Wisconsin Ave. Turn right onto W Wells St. Turn left onto N 6th St. Continue straight to stay on N 6th St. Turn right onto W Walnut St. Turn left onto N Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.

By bus: Take the #19 from Wisconsin Ave north on Old World Third St (Third St becomes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr). Get off at the intersection of N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr and Brown St.

Orientation: Wednesday, February 1st at 1:00pm.

Days/Hours of Volunteering: Students can find out specific days and times for service learning during the Service Learning Sign-Up Night.

***Specific instructions for orientation: Applications and consent for a background check will be done on the day of scheduled orientation.

Description of Agency/Activities: The Milwaukee Center for Children and Youth, Inc. (MCCY) is a not-for-profit corporation that was founded to respond to gaps in services for abused and neglected children.  Our mission is to keep children safe, to create nurturing communities, and to advance best practices and improved outcomes for children and families. 

MCCY provides comprehensive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed education and supportive services to children and youth who have been abused and/or neglected and have been exposed to family violence in their homes.  Programming includes Child and Family Advocacy, Restorative Justice Circles of Support and Community Circles, Youth Leadership Development/Peer Mentoring, Nurturing Parenting Program for Parents and Their Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers, Seeking Safety, an Individual or Group Trauma Therapy for Women and Adolescent Girls, and Support Groups for Children Ages 6 to 12.

Student Role at Agency: Child Care and Group Support: Students will assist agency staff and interact with parents and children to provide open play, reading time, art projects, movement activities, and a light meal.
