Agency Fair and Sign-Up Night

At the beginning of every Fall semester, the Service Learning program holds an Agency Fair for all of Program's community partners. The Agency Fair allows sites to talk to prospective Service Learners about the placement opportunities available. Students attend this event, and visit the agencies that have been designated for their classes to find which site will be the best fit for them. Faculty are also encouraged to attend the fair, so that they are able to meet face-to-face with the community members that will be serving as co-educators. Usually, the agencies that are able to attend the Agency Fair receive more Service Learners as a result of their recruiting efforts than do agencies who are not able to attend the Fair. Every summer, your agency will receive an invitation to participate.

Sign -Up Night is held the night after the Agency Fair. After they contact you regarding your needs for that particular semester, Student Coordinators begin to sign up students for your site. The majority of students sign up for Service Learning at Sign-Up Night, however, the Program does allow for students who could not make Sign-up Night to come into our office and sign up during the few weeks following Sign-up Night.

A few days after Sign-Up Night, your Student Coordinator will contact you and let you know how many students signed up for your site so that you are able to prepare for Site Orientations. There is always a chance that no one will sign up for your site. If that is the case, the Student Coordinator will contact you and let you know. You will remain on our contact list, and we will try again to provide you with Service Learners the following semester.
