Days/Hours of Operation: Students are able to volunteer Thursdays for any 2 hour segment between 1:00 – 4:00pm.
Description of Agency/ Activities: This clinic began as a ministry of the Cross Lutheran Church over 10 years ago. They began with only one patient room, resident physician volunteer, and one nurse volunteer. In their first year of practice, Bread of Healing saw over 150 patients. Since then, the clinic has expanded from operating for one half day a week to four half days throughout the week and about 350 patients are seen each month.
Student Role at Agency: Student will serve as a medical interpreter for Spanish-Speaking patients during their neurology appointments. Knowledge of neurological vocabulary and material is critical for this experience. Student should note that
Spanish-Speaking patients are will not always be present at this clinic because not all of their clientele base is Spanish-Speaking.
