Reasons to Contact Your Student Coordinator

The Student Coordinator’s role is to act as a liaison between the community agencies, the students who sign-up to work at those agencies, and the faculty. Student Coordinators have about 7-10 office hours a week. If the problem is immediate, and your Student Coordinator is unavailable, feel free to talk to either another Student Coordinator or the Assistant Program Administrator, Kim Jensen Bohat. Never hesitate to contact your Student Coordinator at any point of the semester if you have a question or concern. You should contact your Student Coordinator if:

• You are unsure when your orientation is, or you have lost some of your paperwork;
• You can not reach anyone at the site and no one is returning your phone calls;
• You are unsure of directions to the site or have transportation concerns;
• The site contact has suddenly changed;
• There have been changes at the agency which are complicating your service;
• You have been given an ongoing assignment at the site that doesn’t fit with your class;
• You have safety or ethical concerns;
• You do not understand what your professor’s expectations are;
• You are not seeing the connection between your class and your service;
• You are concerned you will not get enough hours;
• You feel that you are unable to maintain your commitment to the site;
• You are interested in learning more about working for Service Learning.

Please know that Student Coordinators are in the office Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and are also available by email. The SC’s are more than happy to help you. Click here for your SC’s contact information and office hours.
