Special Courses/
Special Placements

Service Learning has two different types of placements. The first type we refer to as traditional placements. These placements are the regular service opportunities; such as tutoring, visiting, translating, etc, those are open to most Service Learners. The other type of placement is what we refer to as Special Placements. For these opportunities, students work on course specific types of projects at the site that will not be offered as traditional placements. Some examples of special courses include the Human Resources Class where students work as HR assistants, and the Physics class where students give physics presentations and do experiments for younger students. Special Courses do not always have the same requirements as traditional Service Learning courses, so be sure to check with your professor to see what he/she expects in regards to paperwork, deadlines, hour requirements, etc.
