Insurance
Individuals
traveling or studying abroad should have adequate
medical insurance that provides
coverage for health care outside of the United
States.
Basic
benefits should cover:
•
accidents
• hospitalization
• emergency
evacuation
• repatriation
of remains
Many
U.S. health insurance policies, including those provided by a
parent's employer, do not cover care provided outside the United
States or may cover only "emergency care". Check with
your health insurance provider.
If
you are traveling with a group or program, check with your group
leader for resources for coverage abroad. Credit card companies,
tour packages and international auto and travel clubs may offer
international health insurance too.
