Marquette’s Social Innovation Initiative welcomes all like-minded individuals and organizations who embrace positive social change through innovative approaches that attack root causes of social problems. In keeping with the Initiative's goal of serving as a regional convener, we would like to learn from, and work with, you and your networks!
Embrace complexity and myriad perspectives: collaborations and constant idea-generation are key to potentially successful solutions.
Quick answers seldom exist: if it were easy, someone else would’ve already done it!
Humility is a virtue: self-promotion is obstructive, while empathy and an openness to learning from others are wonderful leadership attributes.
Iron sharpens iron: constructive input makes a good idea even better; focus on increased human capability – a key outcome of good social innovation – and celebrate (re)iteration as necessary and solid due diligence.
Know yourself: good ideas are plentiful, but solid execution is rare... so where do you fit best in working toward systemic change and solving complex social problems? (Driving one piece of a potential solution is better than owning a big idea that sits undeveloped.)
