Past Administrative and Communicatons Experience

Self-employed from 1983 through 1985, during which time I did freelance writing for newspapers and magazines; contracted with local businesses to teach and do word-processing, presented seminars on Business English, and edited annual reports.
Publications Editor, UM-Columbia, Dept. of Journalism, Freedom of Information Center. 1979-1982. Supervised three staff writers to write and edit bi-monthly newsletter.
Communications Assistant and Program Supervisor. Inner City Impact, Humboldt Park, Chicago. In the former position, I wrote and edited newsletters, coordinated publicity programs and multimedia presentations. In the latter position, I coordinated youth and adult programs and trained summer interns.

 

Personal

U.S. citizen. Languages: English, some Arabic and Turkish.
Traveled in Middle East (Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and Egypt) and conducted field research in Turkey.
