SOWJ General Studies Major

Required Courses

SOWJ 080, SOWJ 182, SOWJ 184, SOCI 104 or CRLS 104 + 18 hours of SOWJ designated electives

In addition, majors must fulfill half of their college curriculum mathematics/logic/computer requirement with SOCI 060. Students must also fulfill one-third of their college curriculum philosophy requrement by taking PHIL 105. SOCI 060 is a prerequisite for SOCI 104 or CRLS 104.

No courses from the Professional Studies program count toward the SOWJ major.

Joint Major in Social Welfare and Justice and
Criminology and Law Studies

Students must take a total of 54 credit hours in meeting the requirements for the two majors, including all required courses for the major. One course from the following CRLS courses can be counted in meeting the elective requirements of both majors: CRLS 152, 155, 156, 157, 161, 163, 165, 166, 167, 168, 181, 182, 186, 187, 198*. CRLS 104 or SOCI 104 will count toward the requirements of both majors and is considered one of the two courses meeting the six elective requirements.

Joint Major in Social Welfare and Justice and Sociology

Students must take a total of 54 credit hours in meeting the requirements for the two majors, including all required courses for the major. One course of the following SOCI courses can be counted in meeting the elective requirements of both majors: SOCI 021, 100, 121, 125, 126, 128, 131, 133, 138, 151, 152, 153, 154, 159, 162, 163, 164, 16, 166, 167, 186, 198*. SOCI 104 or CRLS 104 will count toward the requirements of both majors and is considered one of the two courses meeting the six elective requirements.
