 LATIN IS SPOKEN HERE. You’re going to hear words like magis (Latin for “more”) and cura personalis (“care for the person”) because they embody the Marquette mission. Latin might be an old-school Catholic thing, but using it can also be a great way to impress your friends and family.
 CHICKEN NUGGETS are essential to the Marquette diet and the unrivaled epicurean delight favored by students.
 WE PERFORM A JILLION HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE. (A highly scientific study determined that number, of course.) The truth is, we’re proud of our commitment to the community and the world around us. Service is not required, but it’s very hard to leave Marquette without doing it.
 OUR ENGINEERS READ SHAKESPEARE. And our English majors learn science. The University Core of Common Studies ensures that regardless of your major, you’ll develop a wide body of knowledge — and that’s going to be really helpful after you graduate. The core curriculum teaches you to think for yourself, to act responsibly and to stretch your mind.
 WE'RE HOME TO HOBBITS, ORCS AND ENTS. You’ll not only meet new friends from the middle of the country, you’ll also get a chance to explore Middle Earth. The Department of Special Collections and University Archives houses many of the original manuscripts of J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (and other incredible books).
 TWO WORDS WORTH REMEMBERING: CLUB RAYNOR. Raynor Memorial Libraries is our hybrid of the old and new, and it’s definitely the place to see and be seen on campus. At the gorgeous John P. Raynor, S.J., Library, you’ll find state-of-the-art research technology, plenty of room for group study and a caffeine fix, too. (We love our coffee shops.)
 OUR PROFESSORS TEACH. Actual professors teach actual undergraduate courses. A novel idea? Perhaps. But that’s just the way we do things around here.
 WE'RE MORE THAN 125 YEARS OLD! (But we don’t look a day over 30.) Our education is rooted in the Jesuit tradition of excellence and intellectual acuity and reflection that is still relevant and designed for a successful life today — and tomorrow.
 OUR UNDERGRADUATES PARTICIPATE IN REAL RESEARCH, joining faculty in advancing science. It’s an opportunity not available to undergrads at most universities.

Though I felt that I was not a natural born leader, I was given the opportunity to meet so many new people and get involved in an endless number of activities at Preview. For the first time in my life, I was able to thrive in an environment outside of my comfort zone, surprising both my parents and myself. I kept in contact with the friends I met at Preview, and by the time I moved into Marquette for my first day as a freshman, I was excited and confident. I bonded instantly with my roommate and all of the girls on my wing. When I went home for Christmas, my mom and I were talking about how much more outgoing and self confident I had become since starting college. To this day, my mom tells me she had no doubt Marquette was the perfect school for me.
