Associate
Professor
Robert
Masson (Ph.D., Fordham University, 1978), [Systematics/Ethics],
specializes in Catholic systematic and fundamental theology with
a particular emphases on: philosophical theology, religious epistemology
and language, and Rahner. The focus of his current research is
the role of metaphor and analogy in religious understanding and
theological argumentation. He is the author of articles in a number
of professional journals (e.g., Theological Studies,
The Thomist, Horizons, The Heythrop Journal, Zygon
), and The Charmed Circle: Theology for the Head, Heart,
Hands and Feet (Kansas City: Sheed and Ward, 1987). He served
as Associate Editor of Philosophy and Theology (1995-2002).
In June, 2004, he was elected President of the College
Theology Society for a two-year term, and has been a board
member of that society (1980-83) and chaired its Research and
Publication Committee (1983-1987). He served on the board of the
Karl Rahner Society,
was the society's national coordinator from (1995-98). Recently
published articles include: “Analogy and the Metaphoric Process.”
