Rodrigo J. Morales [Ph.D., New Testament, Duke University, 2007; M.T.S., Biblical Studies, University of Notre Dame, 2002] specializes in the interpretation of the New Testament, particularly the letters of Paul in their Second Temple Jewish context and as received in the early history of interpretation. He has a special interest in integrating historical study of ancient texts (both biblical and patristic) with contemporary theological interpretation of Scripture. Recent articles have appeared in Nova et Vetera, the Zeitschrift für die Neutestamentliche Wissenschaft and Biblische Zeitschrift, and his first monograph, The Spirit and the Restoration of Israel: New Exodus and New Creation Motifs in Galatians, was published in Mohr Siebeck’s Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament Second Series. Dr. Morales has been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers and will be spending the academic year 2011-12 at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich working on his next major monograph, a study of the relationship between baptism, Eucharist, and participation in Christ in the Pauline epistles.
