Trinity Fellow Class of 2004-2006
Graduate Program: MAPS- Health Care Administration
Service Experience: Peace Corps- Estonia
Undergraduate Degree: UWM- Milwaukee- Bachelors of Arts in English
Trinity Fellows Program Agency Assignment: IndependenceFirst

Through the Trinity Fellows Program, I have had the opportunity to receive my Masters in Public Service – Health Care Administration in the College of Professional Studies.  I chose the health care field because it most closely related to working with persons with disabilities.  Through my academic experience I have taken courses in the Nursing school, the Heath Care school and the Public Service sector.  My classes have been enriching and rewarding and in each class, I have been able to integrate my own career interests to gain a full learning experience.

My placement, at IndependenceFirst, has given me tremendous work experience.  My role as Legislative Advocate has given me knowledge of the systems level of disability rights and policy as well as the experience of advocating on the systems level.  I have also learned about fundraising, donor solicitation, grant writing, newsletter management, and most of all —program coordination.  I developed a program called the Youth Leadership Program for high school students with disabilities and have planned, implemented and assessed it for two years running.

I cannot say enough about the positive experience and growth I have had as a result of the Trinity Fellows Program.  I feel confident as I look to advance in my career, that I have what it takes to be successful as a leader in the nonprofit world of Milwaukee.  I am so pleased and honored to have been part of this program and I think it will really send me forward in my professional life.
