Bernadette WitzackTrinity Fellow Class of 2006-2008
Through introductory non-profit courses, to a course on financial management and electives in public health, my graduate coursework has informed professional growth. During my first semester as a Trinity Fellow, I was writing a grant in one of my courses and another grant at my placement agency. Though they were different kinds of grant, I was able to use knowledge learned in class at my placement and vise-versa. I got an “A” on the grant for my class, and we were awarded the $450,000 grant at my field placement. It was very exciting. During the majority of my Trinity Fellowship, I had the opportunity to act as Project Coordinator for the Milwaukee County Health Care Intimate Partner Violence Consortium at the Task Force on Family Violence. This position was an absolute perfect match for my interest in public health and violence prevention. I gained experience in grant management and outcome reporting, program evaluation and assessment, and leadership and meeting facilitation. Through this position, I have gained several mentors and made many connections within the Milwaukee non-profit and health care fields.
