Sarah HasslingerTrinity Fellow Class of 2004-2006 The Trinity Fellows Program offered a wonderful opportunity for me to develop skills in nonprofit management both academically and professionally through a community placement at the Milwaukee Christian Center. The classes offered ideas on leadership theory and emphasized communication. The small Trinity Fellow classes allowed for discussion of current events in the Milwaukee nonprofit community, and was a great asset in networking with fellow classmates and learning more about resources available to the nonprofit community in general. My experience at the Milwaukee Christian Center was the highlight of my Trinity Fellows experience. While working there I gained valuable skills in communication, program development, marketing, fund development, and special events planning. As the Volunteer/Communications Coordinator I had the opportunity to centralize and professionalize the agency’s volunteer program, coordinated the agency’s annual bowl-a-thon, was a member of the Resource Development Committee, assisted with a grant research and writing, and was involved with creating the annual report and reconstructing the agency’s website. My job included much more than just volunteer coordination and communications – I was fortunate to be able to work closely with the Development Director and Executive Director during my time there. The skills I gained at the Milwaukee Christian Center will be utilized throughout my career. |
