If you would like to work in the GLBT community doing
policy work, social work, advocacy or education, there
are many agencies to consider. Here are just a few:
NGLTF - National
Gay and Lesbian Task Force - internships for students.
Job ads can also be found on their web page.
GayWork.com
- a new employment service for gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgendered workers. Employers and recruiters
can post job openings, and job seekers can post resumes.
The databases of both can be searched. Because this
service is very new, there are not a lot of postings
yet, but it could become a valuable resource for GLBT
workers and for employers seeking extraordinary talent.
www.hirediversity.com
- This website has resources for special populations
including African Americans, Asian Americans, disabled,
gay & lesbian, Hispanics, Native Americans, and
women. Their mission is to "facilitate excellence in
diversity recruitment by bringing together human resources
professionals with quality, prescreened, multicultural
and/or bilingual professional candidates from diverse
backgrounds."
National
Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical
Professionals
"NOGLSTP is a national organization of gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender people (and their advocates)
employed or interested in scientific or high technology
fields. NOGLSTP's goals include dialogue with professional
organizations, disseminating information, improving
our members employment and professional environment,
opposing anti-queer discrimination and stereotypes,
educating the queer, scientific, and general communities,
and fostering inter-city contacts among our members."
