The 1st Year Experience retreat was a great opportunity for me to get away from the stresses of just moving in to college and adjusting to college classes. I was able to take time out for myself to talk to God and readjust. While on this retreat, I was given time for prayer and reflection to experience God and work on my relationship with Him. I was able to talk to Him about why I am here at Marquette, what His plan for me is here at Marquette, and how I can serve Him in my everyday actions. Coming to college is not an easy adjustment and with it comes the added stress of making new friends and trying to find those people that share the same beliefs and values as you. Sometimes, I found myself forgetting God's presence in my life and neglected to make time for Him. The retreat helped me to refocus and realize that God is with me through this time of transition. I just need to have faith in Him and trust in His plan. During my time alone with Him, I realized that He will guide me in forming great relationships and meeting new people. We also had time to converse with others who share a desire for God in their lives. Talking with others about God made me feel less alone. I felt more comfortable knowing that others, like me, love God and want to build a stronger relationship with Him. When I first started school, my eyes were closed to the presence of God in the daily events and people that I met. This retreat helped me to focus on making time for God and fostering a deeper relationship with Him here at school!! Not only was I able to re-center in my relationship with God, but I was able to meet really wonderful people! It was a great opportunity to make friends and just relax without having to worry about anything. FRESHMAN 1st YEAR RETREAT = GREAT RETREAT!!”
