Applications
for IMAP:Belize 2009 will be due online by Tuesday, April 8, 3:00 PM. After
submitting the online application, a select number of applicants will be invited for personal interviews from April 21-25. University Ministry will notify you by email regarding the next step of your application and whether you are invited to proceed to an interview or not. Any deviance from these deadlines may affect your application. Applicants will be notified
of the selections via email by April 29, 2008, 4:00 PM.
In order to
prepare for the trip to Belize, there are monthly mandatory meetings and a weekend overnight retreat. The meetings will
address fund-raising, team building, cultural sensitivity,
facts about Belize, substance abuse issues, details
about the trip, and spiritual reflection.
These meetings are mandatory and all students are
expected to attend all meetings in their entirety ,
if you are not able to attend every meeting, then you are advised not
to apply.
(See
the IMAP Belize time line for all dates relating to
the Program)
Each individual
is responsible for raising a minimal of $1600. All funds must be allocated by December 8, 2008. Students will be dropped from the trip if they have not met the minimal amount due. Through
personal fundraising, awareness of the issues and needs
of Belize are communicated and this trip becomes a shared
trip with those who cannot go themselves. Group
fundraising is not usually a productive option so individuals
are expected to do their own fundraising. If you are unable to raise the $1600 through personal fundraising, then you will be held responsible for any deficits.
By signing
the Statement of Intent, all individuals are expected
to follow through with the financial commitment as well
as the preparation commitments. The retreat and preparation
meetings preceding the trip are an essential part of
the experience, therefore, those with irresolvable
schedule conflicts are advised not to apply.
