Restorative Justice in South Africa: Ntobeko and Linda's Story
Linda Biehl is the mother of Amy Biehl. Amy was an American Fulbright Scholar working in South Africa against apartheid who was beaten and stabbed to death in a township near Cape Town.
Ntobeko Peni, one of the convicted men in the murder of Amy Beihl, now works for the Amy Biehl Foundation Trust in Cape Town, a non-profit organization which dedicates its work to putting up barriers against violence.
Ntobeko and Linda will speak on the healing journey of victim of political violence in South Africa. These individuals have been supporters of restorative justice, a theory used in criminal justice systems and national models to promote healing among conflicting groups. They will share thier stories and the stories of others committed to the arduous task of restoring peace and healing to areas where extreme injustices have occured.
