The Arrupe Seminar

In 2002 the Office of Mission and Identity began to sponsor gatherings for deans and vice-presidents on the mission of  Jesuit Catholic Higher Education.  In 2004, the seminar added two more options. In December and in May, a half hour quiet examen of consciousness over the previous semester was offered. In the quiet reflection, three separate questions are suggest for an individual to ponder:  the blessings of the semester; the difficulties of the semester, and a look toward the future.  In 2007, the seminar began to be called the Arrupe Seminar.

The topics for the Seminar vary from specific articles about Ignatian Spirituality, Catholic Education, Jesuit Education, Global Consciousness to books about these topics.  Some of the books which have been read and discussed are:  Heroic Leadership, The Catholic Intellectual Tradition, The End of Poverty, and the Call to Discernment in Troubled Times
