Personal training and nutritional consultations for faculty and staff are provided by Kristin Kipp, MS, RD, LD, CSCS.
Initial Fitness Consultation/Assessment (60 minutes) – During this initial consultation, you’ll sit down with Kristin to discuss what your health/fitness needs include and you will also complete a short fitness assessment.
Fitness Assessment: The fitness assessment determines your current fitness level and identifies any areas which may need improvement. Information obtained from this assessment provides Kristin a starting point from which she can design a program tailored to fit your individual fitness needs. Your results will be reviewed with you and a variety of health and fitness categories will be assessed. Fitness tests may include any of the following:
*Note: Fitness Assessments will be tailored to meet each individual’s specific needs and will always include a resting heart rate, blood pressure, and body composition test (optional). Please wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes for your fitness assessment.
Personalized Fitness Program (30 minutes) – After you meet with Kristin for your initial consultation, she will use this information to write an 8-week fitness program for you. This program will include a daily calendar that includes your time commitment to exercise as well as the workout for the day, and exercise logs to track your progress for each workout. Time commitment: 30 minutes.
Training Programs (2 – 30 minute sessions) – Want to walk/run a 5K, 10K, or even a half marathon or marathon, but you just don’t know how to train for this type of event? Let Kristin help by developing a training program that fits your needs and helps you meet your goal. You’ll need to come to the initial consult with some form of baseline fitness assessment (i.e., how far do you currently walk/run or for how much time, or what is your time for running/walking 1 mile).
Training Sessions (30 and 45 minute sessions) – These sessions are designed to guide you through your exercise program. Through these sessions you will develop proper lifting technique, learn how to progress your exercise sessions safely, and acquire the tools you need to continue on your own if desired. Choose either an individual session with Kristin or bring a partner and take part in a 2 person session.
*Note: Before taking part in any personal training sessions or receiving a personalized fitness program, you must first meet with Kristin for an initial consultation/fitness assessment.
Initial Nutrition Consultation (45 minutes) – During this initial consultation, you will discuss your current nutrition habits as well as what nutrition and health goals you would like to achieve.
Personalized Nutrition Plan (30 minutes) – After you meet with Kristin for your initial consultation, she will use this information to make a customized a nutrition plan for your daily life. Each plan is individualized and may include different tools to help you meet your specific nutrition needs.
Includes Personalized Plan
Four package options that include a fitness or nutrition plan are available as shown. Time commitment will vary based on which option purchased. See below for more information on time commitments. All personal training or nutrition consults that are included in the packages are 45 minute sessions. When the package option includes both personal training sessions or nutrition consults, you can choose one or do a combination of both.
Initial Consult and Personal Training or Nutrition Counseling Sessions Only
If you don’t want a personalized plan, we also have packages that only include the initial consult and either personal training sessions or nutrition consults. The initial consult will always be 45 minutes, but you can choose a 30 or 45 minute session for your personal training or nutrition consults that follow.
Kristin Kipp began her career in the field of exercise and nutrition in 1998 while serving in the United States Marine Corps when given the opportunity to run the remedial physical fitness program for the marines and counsel them on nutrition. After six years of active duty, Kristin began working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer at Boise State University where she started her Bachelor’s degree in 2002. She then continued to run the remedial physical fitness program for the marines at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho. After finishing her degree in 2005, Kristin went on to pursue her Master’s degree in nutrition at Oregon State University, where she worked as a graduate teaching assistant and continued to teach fitness and academic classes for health and wellness. In her last year at Oregon State University, she worked as an outpatient nutritionist for student health while completing her dietetic internship through the University of Northern Colorado.
From there, Kristin started working as a clinical inpatient/outpatient dietitian for Samaritan Health Systems at Lebanon Community Hospital in Lebanon, Oregon in 2008. In this role she conducted nutrition screening and assessments for hospital patients, provided outpatient nutrition counseling for a variety of health conditions, and created nutrition education handouts and presentations for the community.
In 2009, Kristin and her family moved to Ann Arbor, MI where she took on various positions related to fitness and nutrition. She continued to teach fitness classes for the Washtenaw Community College and also taught academic nutrition classes for both Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan University. The following year Kristin became the fitness coordinator for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where she provided fitness classes and personal training services for the hospital staff, developed and presented health/fitness talks for the community and worked with the NutriCare Fitness Program, a weight loss program provided by the hospital. Before leaving Michigan in 2011, Kristin also filled in as the sports dietitian for Eastern Michigan University counseling student athletes about eating for performance and weight management, developing newsletters, recipes, educational handouts, and helping athletes eat well on a budget.
