Anthony M. Iacopino, DMD, PhD - Director

Anthony M. Iacopino, DMD, PhD

Dr. Anthony ("Tony") Iacopino is Director of the Wisconsin Geriatric Education Center (WGEC) and also Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies for Marquette University's School of Dentistry. He represents the WGEC at the national level by serving as Co-Chair of the Distance Learning Task Force for the National Association of Geriatric Education Centers. Dr. Iacopino holds a certificate in Geriatrics and Gerontology from the New Jersey Geriatric Education Center, which he acquired as part of his Geriatric Dentistry fellowship. Prior to joining the WGEC, he maintained a private dental practice in New Jersey targeted to geriatric patients and directed one of the country's first dental clinics specifically designed for elderly patients with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Dementia.

Stacy L. Barnes, MGS

Ms. Stacy Barnes, Director of Administration, oversees all aspects of the WGEC's day-to-day activities, including the center's grants, projects, personnel, marketing, budgets, etc. She represents the WGEC at the national level by serving on the National Task Force for Infusing Gerontology into K-12 Curriculum, and as Treasurer for the National Association of Geriatric Education Centers. Ms. Barnes has worked for a wide variety of aging-related organizations and companies, including work at the local, regional, and national levels. As a gerontologist and professional trainer, she has conducted numerous presentations and training workshops throughout the United States pertaining to gerontology, outcome assessment, continuous quality improvement, and team building. Ms. Barnes has a Master's degree in Gerontological Studies from the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Julie Murphy, Office Assistant, provides organizational and administrative support to the WGEC. She has significant experience in office and project management, having managed her husband's private dental practice for 12 years in Boston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Murphy graduated from Marquette University with a B.A. in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Service.
