Craig uses more than a strong work ethic to run his business. He relies on cura personalis.

The founder and president of Fusion OEM, a manufacturing company in the Chicago area, Craig takes pride in hiring for attitude over experience, then giving employees opportunities to receive extensive internal training to advance within the company. Fusion’s training matrix allows employees to move up the pay scale as much as three or four times in a year, on top of the above-industry-average starting pay.

The reason he does this: to create a company culture people want to be a part of, because a company is only as successful as its employees. Craig strives to provide employees the resources and encouragement they need to turn their jobs into lifelong careers.

“My role as an entrepreneur requires service excellence to my clients and those who are employed by me,” he says. “My faith in God guides me each day in all aspects of this direction.”

Craig inherited his entrepreneurial spirit from his father, who owned a contract engineering company. Under his father’s guidance and support, he was allowed the opportunity to assume various roles to better understand how he ultimately wanted to develop and run his own company.

Craig credits Marquette for his leadership and problem-solving skills. To him, receiving this award is about more than just recognition for his achievements: “Being given professional and personal accolades reminds me of my journey, and this one in particular gives me a high sense of purpose and pride knowing that so much of what I have today is due to my four years at Marquette.”
