From her professional and personal lives, to her Marquette University and Children’s Hospital experiences — Nancy is always in pursuit of excellence, driven by faith, growing as a nurse leader and remaining service-minded.

As vice president and chief nursing officer at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Nancy loves being a nurse. She oversees the standard of nursing care across the hospital system, which has led the way for organizational changes like furthering nursing research and developing advanced practice nurse care delivery models. As chief nursing officer for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s system, she is proud to have achieved and maintained Magnet Status for Excellence in Nursing since 2004.

“I have the privilege of serving patients and their families, alongside the awesome nurses, providers and allied health professionals who devote their careers to doing the right things for kids and their families,” says Nancy. “I am humbled and honored to receive this award. This represents how communities foster partnerships. I am proud of how Marquette University and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin partner.”

In her free time, Nancy volunteers with community organizations whose missions align with her values. She serves on the board of regents for Concordia University and on the advisory board for the Milwaukee School of Engineering Nursing School. She is past president of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for Southeastern Wisconsin and of the American Lung Association.

Nancy recalls her fellow Marquette students who were working leaders, mothers, going to school and balancing it all. Nancy was among them having delivered her two sons while attending graduate school at Marquette.

Fun facts:

Dream dinner guest: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — “I am curious how she maintained her strength and courage in the public eye during scandal, sorrow and constant attention.”

Marquette faculty or staff member who had an impact: “Drs. Shelly Malin and Janet Wessel Krejci — the systems course they developed was meaningful to me.”

Most influential person: “My father was someone who had a great work ethic and strong values. He has influenced me growing up and as an adult.”
