Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Liberian President to speak, receive honorary degree

Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, will

receive an honorary degree from Marquette in ceremonies at 10 a.m. on

Oct. 23, in the ballroom of the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W.
Wisconsin Ave.
The event, at which Johnson Sirleaf will speak, is free and
open to the public, but
reservations must be made by calling

This is only the second time in Marquette history that a sitting head of state has

O'Donnell, S.J., conferred a Honorary Doctor of Law degree on German

Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.

Marquette Magazine

The beginning

Bishop J. Martin Henni believed Milwaukee needed a Jesuit institution of higher
learning and worked for 30 years to see his vision realized. This year
Marquette celebrates its 125th anniversary and the fall issue of Marquette
Magazine
offers a preview of a new book that captures the first century. Plus,
learn how the Law School is living its mission, meet three alumni who’ve made
shoeshine boys a part of their extended families, and more.

Watch for the fall issue or visit www.marquette.edu/magazine.
