What Would Bishop Henni Say?

Marquette President Robert A. Wild, S.J., reflected on the
university’s 125-year history and visions for the future in his annual
presidential address last week. Entitled “What Would Bishop Henni
Say,” the speech contrasted conditions when Marquette College
was founded in 1881 by Milwaukee's first Bishop and later
Archbishop, John Martin Henni, with today’s student body, physical
facilities and finances.

  • Chicago alumni donate $5 million to College of Engineering
    Jim and Kelly McShane, 1968 graduates of the College of Engineering and College
    of Arts and Sciences, respectively, have given $5 million to endow a chair in
    construction engineering management. Jim McShane is a registered Professional
    Engineer who leads The McShane Companies, a diversified organization comprised
    of various real estate and development companies headquartered in Rosemont, Ill.
    The university recently approved a new program in construction management within
    the college’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Read more
  • Another record-breaking year
    More than 13,000 students applied for spots in the 2007 freshman class, a
    16-percent increase over last year. It is the seventh consecutive year that Marquette
    has received a record number of applications. Read more
  • Marquette announces Mitchem Fellow recipients
    Doctoral candidates Marcia Williams and Christopher Whitt will teach
    undergraduates while finishing their dissertations on issues of racial identity and
    economic status. The fellowships assist under-represented ethnic groups in joining
    the professorate. Read more

  • Celebrate Mission Week Feb. 2-10
    Get the real story behind the Enron scandal during this year’s Mission Week, when
    the Marquette community will reflect on the theme "Challenged to Choose: The

  • Marquette Law to offer first master's degree in Sports Law
    International legal scholars will now be able to attend the first and only graduate Sports Law program in the United States as Marquette University Law School offers its new Master of Laws in Sports Law degree beginning in fall 2007. Read more
