- Nursing, Business, Student Affairs leaders named
Dr. Linda M. Salchenberger, associate dean of academics in Northwestern University’s
School of Continuing Studies, has been named the Keyes Dean of Marquette’s College of
Business Administration and the Graduate School of Management. She is the first female
dean of the college and the inaugural Keyes dean. Dr. Margaret Faut Callahan, a
long-time leader in Rush University’s College of Nursing, has been named dean of
Marquette’s College of Nursing. College administrator and lawyer Dr. L. Christopher
Miller is the new vice president for student affairs. He previously served as vice chancellor
for student affairs and administrative services at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
- College of Engineering will offer two new graduate certificates
Marquette’s College of Engineering will offer certificates in engineering innovation and
new product and process development beginning this fall. The graduate certificates are
for practicing engineers or other qualified individuals with bachelor’s degrees who wish
to expand their knowledge in these fields without pursing a full master’s degree.

- NBA Finals have big Marquette connection
Boston Celtics Coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers, Arts ‘85, and his team are battling the Los
Angeles Lakers
for the NBA championship. Rivers is a member of the Marquette Board of
Trustees. It was at
Marquette that Rivers learned the term "Ubuntu," which has become
the Celtics’ mantra. "Ubuntu"
is a South African term that means working together for the
common good.
- Law School groundbreaking photos
More than 800 people joined Marquette President Robert Wild, S.J., and Law School
Dean Joseph Kearney to break ground simultaneously for Eckstein Hall, the future home
of Marquette University Law School. View the slide show

Marquette engineering students were featured in a five-part, front-page Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel series titled "Green Machine: The making of biodiesel and engineers." The
series also included interactive graphics and video online.
