The Les Aspin Center For Government 2015 Founder's Award

Sharon P. Haverstock

Sharon P. Haverstock has been a dedicated member of the Les Aspin Board of Visitors since 1995, when the Marquette Washington Center was renamed to honor the late Les Aspin. She initially served as a liaison between the Aspin family and Marquette University, ensuring that the mission of the Les Aspin Center for Government reflected the life of the late congressman and secretary of defense. Today, Haverstock and her husband Tom continue to support the center and its students, noting that it does an exceptional job of preparing young leaders for careers in public service.

Haverstock earned a business degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1976 and completed the Kellogg School of Management’s Women’s Director Development Program. She is passionate about manufacturing and has served for more than 20 years as a director of several company and industry boards. In 2013, she retired as executive vice president of Scot Forge after more than 32 years in various operations, sales and marketing senior management positions. Currently, Haverstock is president and managing member of Haverstock & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm. Because of her industrial background, she recently established several women’s scholarships for students studying business or fields related to science, technology, engineering and math. As a mentor, she feels strongly that women should be encouraged to pursue careers in manufacturing.

Haverstock and her husband Tom live in Lake Barrington, Ill.
