Women and Girls of Color Research Initiative Grant

The Center for Gender and Sexualities Studies (CGSS) is pleased to announce the request for proposals for the CGSS Women and Girls of Color Research Initiative Grant. We request proposals from Marquette University faculty, and faculty-led teams in conjunction with staff, students, and local community members that examine issues and concerns facing women and girls of color in the United States, and in particular, the Midwest.

Submission deadline for the 2018 request for proposals is May 7, 2018 by 11:59pm.

In 2016, the CGSS and Marquette University joined a collaborative of universities and organizations who made an active commitment to invest in research and scholarship on the lives of women and girls of color. Depending on the project and available funds, the Research Initiative Grant will provide between $10,000 to $100,000 to select projects that examine this population. Some projects may be funded outright. Others may be selected for fundraising solicitations with selected benefactors.

All proposals will be reviewed by a grant review committee. Funding decisions will be made by the Provost with the CGSS Board recommendation. Preference will be given to applicants whose community-based projects have not received any extramural support, to interdisciplinary research teams, and to community engaged projects that have the potential to impact communities in southeast Wisconsin.

We will announce accepted proposals in June 2018.
