A digital badge is a validated indicator of accomplishment, skill, quality, or interest that can be earned in many learning environments. Marquette University’s digital badges are digital records designed to recognize specific skills/capabilities not solely or otherwise captured by credentials identified on student transcripts.

Badges are clickable images that may be displayed on online platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and any digital badge backpack. Each badge is full of information explaining the context, meaning, processes and outcomes of learning engagements. Marquette has selected the website Credly to host and display its badges.

Digital badges can also serve as steppingstones for more advanced credentials. Certain badges earned in Marquette's graduate courses may be applied to graduate certificates and master's degrees.
