Until the day I recovered from being shot – leading to an article on gun control in Virginia, which changed the state’s gun laws – my MU graduation was the greatest day/accomplishment in my life. I probably was the dumbest/poorest to attend, and only because of financial aid. Four-plus years later, in part because I also worked nearly full time, I no longer was the dumbest, only the poorest MU graduate. In between, reinforcement of previously introduced ethical/moral compasses and a thought process that has served me well, sometimes not. Despite 133 credits, I missed the course on how to deal with those who lack the same values or logic that MU instilled.
