Johnston Hall freaked me out. It was so imposing. And it had a certain scent that I had never smelled before, or since. And though I knew I was a good writer (or, at least, that’s what my mom told me), I really didn’t know about journalism, about how much it mattered to society. Marquette taught me about all of that. I graduated on Saturday and started work on Monday – and haven’t stopped since. (Sigh.) Through news, sports, features and out of the newsroom entirely into online. It’s all different, but at its core, it’s this: Do it right. Care. Try. And if a building smells funny, relax. That’s called character. Thanks, Marquette.
